Friday Faves/Recap #21

By | June 2, 2017

It’s a short work week so it flew by….which means it’s almost time to open the tri season. First race of the season gets underway in less than 24 hours πŸ™‚

I’m doing King Pine for the second year and while I had planned on doing the Olympic distance this year because I have unfinished business with that course from last year, I am doing the sprint this year.

Overall it was a crazy busy but fun week. Saturday was the punk’s dance recital. The plan was to ride before, but that didn’t happen. Recital was cute and well organized as always. Went home and started some house projects. I had family up to start the bathroom remodel (whoop I have a vent/fan in my bathroom now), so we emptied out a TON of stuff from the house and pulled up all the carpet from the living room, hallway, stairs, and bedroom. It was a loooooooong weekend of hard work, but worth it and it’s really coming along πŸ™‚ My family kicks ass. While doing all that I rode 3 hours and 45 minutes on my trainer….ouch….did a 12 mile run and met up with a rock star group of people to get an open water swim done πŸ™‚ I can’t even tell you how much I love the people I train with!!

The rest of the week was pretty status quo: swim, bike, run, strength train (ok I had entirely too much fun messing around with Drew), it was an easy-ish week bc of the race tomorrow. Track Wednesday with the triff <3

Ran into TA at the pool last night, might have made a comment how it was demoralizing getting smoked by him in the pool while he was swimming with a snorkel, pull buoy, and ankle bands. Got some quality hot tub time. There was no shortage of laughter (at my expense). It’s why I call him the ass. The triff said: he’s a sweet jerk. So true haha.

And that takes us to my favorite things this past week:

KHP Mastermind event

This is the second mastermind event I have been to and they both have been amazing. Being connected with like minded women in the local community is awesome. This one was about branding and social media. I learned a ton. Plus, wine and tacos…how do you go wrong there? πŸ˜‰ Kristin is doing big things and she goes about it in the right way, building other women up. She’s also a badass triathlete too so you know bonus points πŸ˜‰

Hannaford To Go

Seriously, why I have I not done this sooner??? I talked to Debbie and Mark about it a couple weekends ago and they said it’s the best. I kinda didn’t want to spend the $5 to do it (they waive the $5 fee for your first order), but I thought about how I spend significantly more money buying stuff that I don’t need when I wandering around the grocery store πŸ˜‰ This was sooooo easy. I went online, made my list (you can even put in notes about the stuff you want…like I always buy 2 bunches of bananas every week so I put in a note saying 2 bunches: one yellow, one green) and I got one bunch that was yellow and one that was more green. I picked which store I wanted to pick up from and picked the time I wanted to pick up. They are set in hour blocks so I picked 3p-4p. Also, same day orders you can’t schedule your pick up for at least 4 hours. Anyways, I got there, followed the signs to the to go parking, pulled in the spot, and it tells you to call. I called, she asked if I was there for pick up, I said yes, she asked my last name and said she would be right out. She came out and told me they made two substitutions, asked if I wanted to substitutions, which I did bc they were essentially the same thing and then gave me my total (which you already know when you put your order in online), took my card and came back out with my groceries, my card, receipt, and $10 off my next to go order of $50 or more. She even loaded the groceries for me (ok I did most bc I felt weird having someone load my groceries haha) and they are not allowed to accept a tip. I was in and out in like 5 minutes. Pretty sure this will be my new go to for grocery shopping. I have a couple kinks to work out, but that was on me…like making sure I get the right size of an item, but I already went on and swapped for the correct size on my saved list.

Open water swims with friends

I don’t open water swim by myself. I have gone with big groups of people or just one other person. I have had some of the best times training when doing an ows. It’s more laid back. Everyone can go at their own pace. Sometimes we swim without stopping, sometimes we regroup. Sometimes we swim hard, some times we float around. Sometimes we try to drown each other (joking…mostly, but yes the guys have taken me out to practice for big races by swimming up my sides, making contact with me, and swimming over part of me), I have even wrestled in a lake with them haha. I used to dread the lake, but it’s one of my favorite things now πŸ™‚
